Hi, we are currently testing integration and we are at a point where the license key has been entered into the module and it's registered with the server which seems to be successfull. But the code to check if the installation is valid is always returning false within the client. The code is:

LicensingUtility.InstallationIsValid()

What would cause this to return false?

Regards
Dan

Hi Dan,

Check the following:

  • the ServiceUrl attributes defined for your assembly (in AssemblyInfo.cs) correctly define the urls of the LicenceMaster web services on your web. They should be something like http://www.mydomain.com/DesktopModules/Dotcom.LicenceMaster/Installation.asmx
  • the Guid defined in your client assembly (in AssemblyInfo.cs) is the same as that defined for the application in LicenceMaster
  • you are running the client application on the domain for which it you have registered it

See this KnowledgeBase article for more info.

If you still have trouble, try calling LicensingUtility.GetInstallationStatus() which will give you more information about what the problem is.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the info. Have checked all the points below and they appear to be correct. Checked the GetInstallationStatus() and it returned InstallationStatus.Pending

The client is running on localhost so not sure if this affects the results?

Thanks

Dan

Hi Dan,

If the installation status is Pending, it is because you still need to reply to the account confirmation email sent to you when you registered the licence. There are three steps in the licence registration process:

  1. Install Licence
  2. Register Licence
  3. Confirm Email

You still need to do step 3. If you have lost the email, you can do one of two things to complete the process. Either:

  • Navigate to the registration page of your Licence Master installation, and reregister the licence

or

  • Log on as administrator in your Licence Master site and edit the profile of the licensee's user account, set the Licensee_Verified property to True and save

The fact that it's a local development installation won't affect this.

This diagram illustrates a typical client application registration process: http://www.dotcomsoftwaresolutions.co...
