Hi Paul,

What would be involved in moving the LM data to a new DNN site?

Hi Dan,

Could you elaborate a bit on the scenario please? Are you going to migrate the whole site to a new domain or server, or do you want to move the LM data to an existing DNN instance?

The first approach is easy enough. Simply backup your site and database and restore it to the new server,

In the second case, you would need to do a bit more work. First ensure that the target DNN instance has a fresh installation of the same version of LM. Then write a SQL script to copy the data to the LM tables in the target database. Licence Master tables are self-contained with the exception foreign keys to Portal and DesktopModule tables from LicenceMaster_Application and LicenceMaster_Settings. You would need to populate these columns with appropriate fields from your DNN instance.

You will need to enable IDENTITY_INSERT while populating the LM tables to maintain the relationships between them.

Hi Paul,

We were looking at moving LM to a new instance of DNN so it would involve the work outlined below in the second case. Thanks for detailing what's required, very useful.

Regards
Dan
